Troop 52 Path to Eagle
Troop 52 Path to Eagle
Life Scout,
Great job on achieving the rank of Life. You are now able to start planning your path to attain the rank of Eagle. Troop 52 has put together the links/items below to help make sure you have access to the resouces you may need. Please let the Troop 52 Life to Eagle Coordinator ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) (LTEC) know if you have any questions and good luck!
Acheiving the rank of Eagle Scout is the highest honor in Boy Scouting. As an Eagle Scout, you are prepared for many opportunities in and beyond scouting. The rank of Eagle requires more than merit badges and a project though. Eagle candidates must demonstrate Scout spirit in the form of helping other scouts, attendence at troop meetings, campouts, activities, and other Scout events. Participation in other Scout's Eagle projects is a good way to show Scout spirit and maybe gain some help with YOUR project!
So, let's get started! You'll need to know what's ahead. For the Eagle Requirements, Troop 52 recommends this page on meritbadge.org. It's easy to read and is updated regularly. Read it, get with our Troop Advancement Chairperson, and make sure your rank, time in service, troop position, merit badges... are current and correct. If not, make it so.
Next, download and print the Bee Cave District Path to Eagle Flowchart - This flowchart was created for Troop use by our District. Essentially, the top half of the chart is required PRIOR to your 18th birthday. The bottom half is expected to be completed within 30 days after your Scoutmaster Conference. You'll use this flowchart to track your progress and in discussions with the LTEC and other Troop/District Leaders.
Then, set up a meeting with the LTEC. There, you'll discuss a plan that works for you. Advice runs from what merit badges to focus on to project mentoring, to how to get your parents to let you do the work. If you are thinking about a project, the LTEC might know of some contacts - ask! You may find project information at NESA.org or Eaglescout.org
Lastly, the rank of Eagle Scout is your rank. Not your parent's, your Scoutmaster's, or your friend's - it's yours. To achieve this rank, you'll need to meet the requirements, earn the merit badges, track your progress, ask the questions, make the calls, set up the appointments, draw the drawings, create the material lists, schedule the work, oversee a project, maintain safety, help others...all of it. And in return, you'll be admitted to a rare group of fellow acheivers with a stellar set of skills (You know, like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills...).
See you there!
