Welcome to Troop 52. As a parent of one of our new Scouts you are a
valuable asset to us and we invite you to become part of our extended Scouting
family. The following steps are required in order to register as adults
and each one must be complete before you can join us on campouts:
1. Fill out the application from the Catholic Diocese of Austin.
The church will do a background check on all our adult leaders.
2. Complete the Catholic Church's Protecting God's Children class.
This course is not available on line.
For a current list of
scheduled Protecting God’s Children workshops within the Diocese, please click
here.
You can take the training at any time/location that is most convenient for you.
Upon completion of the workshop, you should receive a certificate. Please give a
copy of this certificate to our Adult Training Coordinator, David Baczewski, so
that the training information can be entered into our Troop database.
3. Fill out the BSA application for adults. This takes only a few
minutes and background checks are done by Capitol Area Council on each
application. You can pick up an application from our registrar at a meeting or here.
Note: The BSA Adult
Application can not be signed off and submitted to BSA until both the online
Catholic Diocese of Austin application and the Protecting God’s Children
workshop are completed and approved.
4. Complete the BSA Youth Protection course. If you are currently
registered in Boy Scouts of America (Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts) you can do the
course on line here.
You must know your personal ID number which can be found on your BSA membership
card. If you cannot find your personal ID number you can call the Capitol Area
Council offices at 512-929-6363 for assistance. If you have not completed and
turned in an adult application yet you must do that first before you can take
the course on line.
5. Pay your dues. Check with the troop registrar for the annual
dues. Dues will be pro-rated for Webelos parents that crossover to the
Troop in February.
We encourage you to complete BSA's New Leader Essentials class but it is not
a requirement to register with the Troop. This course is not available online. A listing of local classes
is available here.
Please talk to our registrar or committee chairman if you have any questions
and we look forward to working with you and your son.
Adult
training must be updated ASAP.All
adults attending summer camp must update “Youth Protection Training” which
can be done online at www.bsacac.org
